            An old Oxford Water sluice valve marker hiding in the hedge.

In 1973, the Thames Water Authority took over the Metropolitan Water Board and Thames Conservancy, along with a slew of other water companies outside the historical boundaries of London, including the Oxfordshire & District Water Board.
