Mile Post, Peterchurch, Herefordshire 15 August 2014

            A cast iron mile post from the foundry of C Hodges & Son of "Hereford Foundry", marked 1849. A Chaplin Hodges (1791-1877) and his son also Chaplin (1823-1889) had a foundry in Ludlow, sold off on the death of the younger Hodges, but I have seen nothing about Hereford. This may be a coincidence.  Note the blank panel which may have had a final "S" on Mile(s) ground off.
