Finishing with Pierre. I’m sure I have. How did Pierre react, you ask? Good question. Well, I’ve told Pierre. Face to face.  But he hardly said anything. Just nodded. Accepted what I told him. Yes, I cried. And, I’m going to again. I need a glass of wine. I’m drained, emotionally. Sorry. 

Yes, you’re right. Very perceptive of you. He did say he knew. Knew that eventually Simon and I would get back together. The trouble is that Pierre is just so nice. He didn’t shout. He didn’t cry. He didn’t say “get out” He didn’t do anything. And so it’s over. 

I did love him in a funny sort of way. Yes, yes OK Susie. He was fabulous in bed. You know, I never had to fake it once in all the times we made love. But, I don’t know, I need Simon more. As a person.

Look, I’m so pleased you’re here. I’ve got three suitcases of clothes and make up to unpack from Pierre’s flat. Then, let’s have a quiet dinner and I’ll head back to London tomorrow. I must phone Simon, now.

What? Of course you can stay on in my apartment here. Stay as long as you want. Enjoy Paris. Do some shopping. Be a tourist, darling. Phone Pierre, if you like. I don’t mind. After all I first met him at your dinner party. So you knew him before me.
