            Eigentlich sind die Exmoor Ponys in England zu Hause. Sie lebten dort schon vor mehr als 1000 Jahren, d.h. bevor Wilhelm der Eroberer die Angelsachsen besiegte, und gelten als die älteste unverkreuzte Pferderasse der Welt. Es sind wie gesagt Ponys, mit einer Schulterhöhe von etwa 1,35m sind sie nicht groß und man kann ihnen direkt in die Augen schauen wenn man ihnen gegenübersteht. Typisch ist das dunkelbraune Fell mit schwarzer Mähne und Schweif. Das Exemplar auf dem Bild habe ich auf Langeland zwischen den Huthügeln fotografiert, wo diese Tiere eingesetzt werden um die Graslandschaft pflegen. In mehreren kleinen Herden dürfen sie dazu relativ frei umherwandern. Das besondere ist, dass Mensch diese Flächen betreten darf solange er sich respektvoll verhält.  Die Tiere bewegen sich beim grasen permanent in verschidene Richtungen und es kann passieren, dass man sich inmitten einer weitläufig verteilten Herde Wildpferde wiederfindet und beim umherblicken völlig vergißt, dass es 2025 ist. 

Exmoor ponies are actually native to England. They were already living there more than 1,000 years ago, i.e. before William the Conqueror defeated the Anglo-Saxons, and are considered the oldest original horse breed in the world. As mentioned, they are ponies. With a shoulder height of about 1.35 metres, they are not tall, and you can look them straight in the eye when you stand in front of them. They typically have a dark brown coat with a black mane and tail. I photographed the specimen in the picture on Langeland, where these animals are used to prevent bushes and trees to overgrow the grasslands and they are allowed to roam relatively freely in several small herds. 
The special thing is that people are allowed to enter the pastures as long as they behave respectfully, but then it can happen that you find yourself in the middle of a widely scattered herd of wild horses and, looking around, completely forget that it is 2025.
