Roter Milan im Suchflug XI / Red Kite in search flight XI / in explore 20250604

2022 war ein phantastisches Jahr um in Süd-Hessen Rote Milane zu photographieren. In den Jahren davor sah ich sie hier nur vereinzelt. Ich weiß nicht, wie das passiert ist oder was sich genau geändert hat - aber 2022 waren sie auf einmal überall. Ein Pärchen brütete im Wald neben unserem Ort und flog ab Mai täglich mehrfach über den Gärten um Futter für die Jungen ranzuschaffen. In dieser Zeit habe ich so viele Bilder von Milanen machen können, dass ich bis heute (es ist gerade Juni 2025) noch nicht alle bearbeitet oder gar veröffentlicht habe. Dieses Jahr brüten Rote Milane ebenfalls in der Nähe aber ich sehe eigentlich nur das Männchen und bisher ist mir noch kein herzeigbares Photo von ihm gelungen. Um wieder Abwechslung in meinem Stream zu bringen lade ich deshalb heute eines (vermutlich vom Weibchen) von meiner Festplatte hoch und hoffe, dass es euch gefällt.

2022 was a fantastic year for photographing red kites in southern Hesse. In the years before that, I did see them occasionally only. I don't know how that happened or what exactly changed - but in 2022 they were suddenly everywhere. A pair was breeding in the forest next to our village and from May onwards they were constantly flying over the gardens to bring food for their young. During this time, I was able to take so many pictures of kites that I have not yet edited or even published all of them (currently it is June 2025). This year red kites are also breeding nearby but so far I've mainly seen the male and I haven't managed to take a decent photo of him yet. That's why I'm uploading one from my hard drive to my stream today and I hope you enjoy it.
