Löffelenten / Northern Shoveler / in explore 20250127

            Vor einiger Zeit hatte ich ein Löffelentenpaar auf einem See in meiner Nähe gefunden und fotografieren können. Die beiden waren neu in der Gegend und außerdem noch sehr ängstlich. Sie hielten sich bevorzugt mitten im See auf was es schwierig machte sie zu fotografieren. Letztes Wochenende war ich wieder am See und ich hatte gleich in mehrfacher Hinsicht Glück: die beiden waren noch da, der See ist in weiten Teilen zugefroren (so dass die Enten nicht so weit weg vom Ufer schwimmen können) und sie scheinen sich etwas mehr an die Menschen gewöhnt zu haben. Ich konnte die zwei Hübschen unter anderem bei  einer gemeinsamen Pause fotografieren. Aus den "Pausenbildern" habe ich diese Aufnahme ausgewählt weil hier beide gleichzeitig die Augen offen haben (und mich beobachten?). Den Blickkontakt finde ich wichtig. 
Tech. Detail: Ich habe mir eine gebrauchte R10 besorgt um ggf. mal meine 7DII zu ersetzen. Die Unterschiede zwischen den Kameras sind groß und jede kann etwas, was die andere nicht kann. Die aus meiner Sicht wichtigsten Punkte sind bisher a) der AF der R10 funktioniert (im Gegensatz zum AF der R7) sehr gut mit dem Sigma 150-600 C Zoom. Und b) Adobe Lightroom Classic 14.1.1 bzw. Camera Raw 17.1 kann mit dem CR3 von Canon NICHT umgehen, jedenfalls nicht bei hohen ISO. Wäre ich auf diese Raw Konverter angewiesen hätte ich die R10 sofort verschrottet. Ich habe das Entenfoto mit Canon DPP nach TIFF konvertiert und dann mit Luminar 2018 bearbeitet. 

Some time ago I found a pair of shovelers on a pond near my place and was able to photograph them. The two were new to the area and very timid. They preferred to stay in the middle of the lake, which made it difficult to photograph them. Last weekend I was at the lake again and I was lucky in several ways: the two were still there, the lake is frozen over in large parts (so the ducks can't swim that far away from the shore) and the ducks seem to have gotten a bit more used to people. I was able to photograph the two beauties during a break together. I chose this shot from the "break pictures" because here both have their eyes open at the same time (and are watching me?). I believe eye contact is important.
Tech. Detail: I got myself a used R10 to replace my 7DII if necessary. The differences between the cameras are big and each can do something the other can't. Most important from my point of view so far is that a) the AF of the R10 works very well with the Sigma 150-600 C zoom (in contrast to the AF of the R7). And b) Adobe Lightroom Classic 14.1.1 and/or Camera Raw 17.1 CANNOT handle Canon's CR3, at least not at high ISO. If I had to rely on the Adobe raw converter, I would have scrapped the R10 immediately. I converted the duck photo to TIFF with Canon DPP and then edited it with Luminar 2018.
