Zwergtaucher / Little Grebe - a photo on Flickriver

            Der Januar ist keine gute Jahreszeit um Vögel in Deutschland zu fotografieren. Die Sonne geht erst um 8:20 Uhr auf und bei wolkenverhangenem Himmel ist es den ganzen Tag duster. Ich bin schon seit Dezember von meiner 7DII (APS-C) auf meine 5D III (Vollformat) umgeschwenkt, weil die besser mit weniger Licht zurechtkommt. Den Zwergtaucher habe ich morgens kurz nach 9 Uhr mit ISO 6400 aufgenommen. Die 1/250s war eigentlich zu langsam sobald er sich bewegt. Ich bin insgesamt aber sehr zufrieden mit meinem Fotospaziergang von diesem Tag. Zum einen wie das Bild trotz der schwierigen Bedingungen herausgekommen ist und zum anderen, dass ich den Zwergtaucher inzwischen halbwegs zuverlässig finde wenn ich nach ihm Ausschau halte. 

January is not a good time of year to take photos of birds in Germany. The sun doesn't rise until 8:20 a.m. and with cloudy skies it's dark all day. Beginning from December I switched from my 7DII (APS-C) to my 5D III (full frame) because it copes better with less light. I shot the little grebe in the morning few minutes after 9 a.m. at ISO 6400. The 1/250s was actually too slow as soon as it moved. Overall, I'm very happy with my photo walk from that day. On the one hand I am glad how the picture came out despite the difficult conditions and on the other hand I am happy that I now find the little grebe reasonably reliable when I look for it.
