Eine Schwalbe ... / One swallow ... - a photo on Flickriver

            ... macht noch keinen Sommer lautet ein altes Sprichwort. Irgendwie scheint sich das überholt zu haben und vielleicht werden die Kinder das in Zukunft gar nicht mehr verstehen. Inzwischen ist es nach meinem Eindruck eher so, dass der Sommer jedes Jahr lange vor den Schwalben da ist und Schwalben selbst sieht man selbst auf dem Dorf nur noch in homöopathischen Mengen. Kein Vergleich mit früher, wo Schwalben spätestens wenn die Jungen auch fliegen konnten zu hunderten über den Feldern unterwegs waren und von mir zahlenmäßig in der Nähe von Spatzen gesehen wurden. 
Die Rauchschwalbe auf dem Foto zeigt, was es für elegante und begnadete Flugkünstler sind. Wenn man weiß, mit welcher Geschwindigkeit sie unterwegs sind muss man sie einfach dafür bewundern, wie sie bei diesem Tempo Insekten in der Luft sehen, verfolgen und einfangen können.
Tech. Info: Der Dual-Pixel AF meiner 7DII ist nach heutigen Maßstäben nicht sehr gut. Zu den Aufnahmesituationen, die er hinbekommt zählt aber ein dunkles Subjekt vor hellem Hintergrund. Wäre die Schwalbe vor einem grünen (dunklen) Hintergrund geflogen, hätte ich mir nicht einmal die Mühe gemacht die Kamera anzuheben. 
Dieses Bild sollte man groß anschauen, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen euch viele Details verloren.

... does not make a summer is an old saying. Somehow that seems to have become obsolete and children might not understand it in the future. Recently, my impression is that summer arrives long before the swallows and swallows are only seen in homeopathic quantities, even in rural areas. It is no comparison with before, when swallows were out and about in their hundreds over the fields at the latest when the young could also fly and I considered them being in numbers close to sparrows.
The barn swallow in the photo shows what elegant and gifted flying artists they are. Knowing the speed they're traveling at, you just have to admire them for how they find, track and capture insects in the air at this velocity.
Tech Info: The dual-pixel AF of my 7DII is not very good by today's standards. However, one of the recording situations that it manages is a dark subject in front of a light background. If the swallow had been flying against a green (dark) background, I wouldn't even have bothered to lift the camera.
