Ringeltaube / Wood Pigeon - a photo on Flickriver

            Diese Taube habe ich photographiert während sie in einer Buche herumgeklettert ist und Äste für den Nestbau abgerissen hat. Bis dahin dachte ich, dass die Vögel ihr Nest aus abgefallenen Ästchen bauen aber nun weiss ich, dass zumindest diese Taube tagelang alle paar Minuten in der Blutbuche auftauchte und hundert oder mehr kleine Ästchen abriss. In gewisser Weise greifen die Vögel also in das Erscheinungsbild der Bäume ein. 
Um das Bild besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch anklicken gehen viele Details verloren. 

I took this photograph of the pigeon while it was climbing in the copper beech tearing off little branches for building a nest. Till then I thought that birds would build their nests from material that fell off a tree naturally. Now I know that at least this bird  comes several days in a row every few minutes  tearing off little branches. To some extend these Wood Pigeons do influence the appearance of trees.
