Just before the outbreak of the Second World War The Czechoslovak Republic was dismembered, and divided. The weapons of the Czech army were requisitioned and used by the German army,
also because they were of excellent workmanship and used the same caliber as the Germanic ones. During the period of occupation the Czech arsenals and arms factories continued to produce armaments for the invader. The anti-tank rifle was produced to arm the waffen-ss units, as well as the ZB vs. 26 light machine gun and the ZK 383 submachine gun went to arm the same units.
The ZH 29 semi-automatic rifle was manufactured for the Chinese National Army, and manufactured in China under license.
All weapons bearing the abbreviation vz. were weapons adopted by the ordinance service of the Czechoslovakian army, although the sub-machine gun KP vz. 38 did not have time to be produced and distributed to the army due to the German invasion.
