The end of an era ...

"The Dutch Dakota Association ended the sightseeing flights with the DC-3 Dakota PH-PBA during the weekend of October 12 and 13, 2024.
After more than 40 years of Dakota flying, the Foundation is forced to stop. 
The cost developments are such that it appears impossible to draw up a balanced budget for 2025. In addition, the lack of adequate and affordable hangar space for storage and maintenance plays an important role.

Fortunately, as the board of the DDA, we have reached an agreement with the aviation museum Aviodrome in Lelystad about the acquisition of the unique and iconic DC-3 Dakota PH-PBA.
The aircraft will remain visible and accessible to the public when placed in the museum. In addition, Aviodrome wants to make small-scale flights to promote the museum. Some of the 140 volunteers of the DDA will go to Aviodrome for this purpose" - text from the Dutch Dakota Association website.

These photo's are from the arrival of the PH-PBA on Lelystad Airport and the taxi to museum Aviodrome - time will tell if we ever are going to see it fly again ....
