            In the next few days I will upload some imho very interesting photographs that depict the life of the so called "Rubber Barons" around 1908-1911 on the banks of the Rio Madeira at the border between Bolivia and Brazil.
Probably the photographer was a Dr. Bauler from Switzerland and fortunately he had described most photographs on the reverse.
There are views from Villa Bella, Cachuela Esperanza, C. Madeira, C. Mamore, C. Chocolatal, C. Riverao, C. Jirau, C. Teotonio and C. Santo Antonio. 
Occurring names are:  Mr. Carlos Meyer (Hamburg), Senor Lugones, Senor Alfredo Ufenast, Mozo Trinitario, Don Fred Arnold, Mrs. Hunrek, Senor Gasser, Senor Furrer, Senor Haase, Franzisco Suarez, Oscar Suarez, Estevan Pasema, Don Pedro Juarez 
One should not forget that for the native indians who collected the rubber it was murder, violation, and constant flogging. They were rounded up and forced to tap rubber out of the trees.
In some areas about 90% of the indigenous population was wiped out.
Today, the Brazilian government is building two massive hydroelectric dams on the Madeira in Santo Antonio and Jirau. They will affect land and livelihoods of thousands of river bank dwellers and indigenous people. Also the habitat of many endangered species will be destroyed.
