Shiptember 2020: UCSNS Hephaestus and UCSS Ajax

            The UCSNS Hephaestus is the lead ship in a class of new mobile dry dock vessels.  Equipped with a Class 3 warp drive, the Hephaestus is capable of traveling into deep space to repair ships too damaged to make it back to a space port.  It is highly self-sufficient, with repair that facilities include:

A repair bay capable of accommodating ships of up to about 500,000 DWT.
Four gantries, each with a variety of tools to manipulate and attach replacement parts.
Hangar facilities for 6 repair drones (one of which can be seen near the Ajax's damaged starboard hangar).
A pair of tractor beam generators, capable of holding the serviced ship in place while it is undergoing repairs.  The tractor can also hold an additional 1,200,000 tons of shipping in place outside of the repair bay.  These additional ships can either be serviced by the repair drones or be queued up for the repair bay.
An internal workshop, capable of fabricating replacement parts, including complex parts such as composite armor plating and reactor core components.


The UCSS Ajax is an Achilles class escort carrier.  During a recent battle, it took heavy damage to its starboard hangar and flight deck, both of which are being completely rebuilt by the Hephaestus' crew.
