Traquet Motteux (Oenanthe oenanthe) Northern Wheater

            Le Traquet motteux se nourrit surtout d'invertébrés : petits escargots, mille-pattes, chenilles, coléoptères, mouches, sauterelles, grillons et araignées .
Il mange aussi des mûres, des myrtilles, et autres baies ainsi que quelques graines. Il court et sautille dans l'herbe rase, s'arrêtant régulièrement pour picorer ou regarder autour de lui. Le Traquet motteux effectue parfois un vol sur place à faible hauteur, un peu comme un Faucon crécerelle. Bien que ce comportement puisse faire partie de la parade nuptiale, il est plus probable qu'il serve à repérer des proies dans les zones où l'herbe est trop haute.

The Northern Wheatear feeds mainly on invertebrates: small snails, centipedes, caterpillars, beetles, flies, grasshoppers, crickets and spiders.
It also eats blackberries, blueberries, and other berries as well as some seeds. It runs and hops in the short grass, stopping regularly to peck or look around. The Northern Wheatear sometimes flies in place at a low height, much like a Common Kestrel. Although this behavior can be part of courtship display, it is more likely to be used to spot prey in areas where the grass is too tall.
