Bécasseau Sanderling ( Calidris alba)

            Excepté en période de reproduction, le sanderling, livrée gris-perle et blanc, bec et pattes noires, est un oiseau côtier et grégaire. Il court avec légèreté sur les plages de sable comme un jouet mécanique. Il est rarement isolé de ses congénères, préférant garder le contact. À marée haute, les groupes se rassemblent, immobiles, sur des points hauts. Les migrateurs peuvent aussi survoler les terres en migration et faire des haltes brèves sur les eaux douces.

Except during the breeding season, the sanderling, with pearl-grey and white livery, black beak and legs, is a coastal and gregarious bird. It runs lightly on the sandy beaches like a mechanical toy. He is rarely isolated from his congeners, preferring to keep in touch. At high tide, the groups gather, motionless, on high points. Migrants can also fly over land in migration and make brief stops on fresh water.
