Belted Kingfisher (Martin-pêcheur d'Amérique)

            Île du Marais, Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley
 
I saw and heard this kingfisher flying around as he was patrolling his territory for food.  I got to a spot where I knew he could potentially come to perch and I waited a bit.  It was a dead tree hanging over the marsh and the setting was great, with light coming from the west as the sun was setting.  And then I got lucky.  I was sitting in the shadow next to a tree and the kingfisher decided to change spot and landed exactly where I needed him.  I pointed and could only shoot this 1 shot, he was gone in a blink.

We can see his body covered in water droplets from a previous dive.
