Waiting For The Bell - a photo on Flickriver

                 AR501 sits on the airfield waiting for the off and Andrew the pilot is ready as well !!
 Taken at Old Warden and not an active wartime airfield , but home to the Shuttleworth Collection of many varied aircraft of different ages and many other forms of transport of many eras . 
  This was taken on a Spitfire Photo Workshop from back in September 2021 .  
           Supermarine Spitfire MK Vc AR501 was built by Westland Aircraft at Yeovil as a Mark VC and issued in 1942 to No 310 (Czech) Squadron based at Duxford. During 1942 and 1943 she undertook escort duties to USAAF bombers, including the famous ‘Memphis Belle’, of the 91st Bombardment Group. After WW2 AR501 was used as an instructional airframe at Loughborough College before being acquired by the Shuttleworth Collection in 1961, together with the Collection’s Sea Hurricane, in exchange for a Jet Provost.
( We don't talk about Jet Provosts !! ) -- It was one of them that came along behind me as I ran down the centre line of a taxi way - and it just kept coming !!!
