Armenia - Geghard Monastery, church singing in the interior (UNESCO)

            Geghard Monastery is a monastery of the 4th century, partly carved into the rock. According to tradition, the complex was founded by Gregory the Illuminator. The first monastery was destroyed by Arabs in the 9th century. Monastery flourished in the 13th century, mainly due to the remains here stored of St. Andrew and St. John and relics Spear of Destiny which (according to tradition) was pierced side of Christ. Currently, it is stored in the Department of Etchmiadzin. The oldest part of the complex is carved in the rock, unfinished chapel Gregory the Illuminator.
In 2000, the monastery was included in the UNESCO cultural heritage list.

Klasztor Geghard to zespół klasztorny z IV wieku, częściowo wykuty w skale. Według tradycji kompleks został założony przez Grzegorza Oświeciciela. Pierwszy klasztor został zniszczony przez Arabów w IX wieku. Monaster przeżywał rozkwit w XIII wieku, głównie dzięki przechowywanym tu szczątkom św. Andrzeja i św. Jana oraz relikwii Włóczni Przeznaczenia którą (według tradycji) był przebity bok Chrystusa. Obecnie jest ona przechowywana w Katedrze Eczmiadzyn. Najstarsza część kompleksu to wykuta w skale, niedokończona kaplica Grzegorza Oświeciciela.
W 2000 roku klasztor został wpisany na listę dziedzictwa kulturowego UNESCO.
