Le cirque de l’Infernet est une gigantesque muraille naturelle. Ces falaises impressionnantes enserrent la partie amont du val de Gellone. Entre ces parois et le Verdus, des éboulis d’un autre temps forment des pentes impressionnantes.
Il entaille d’Ouest en Est le massif calcaire des monts de Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert. Il ferme le val de Gellone à l’Ouest par des reliefs formant le ’Bout du Monde’.
Ces falaises sont de véritables refuges pour de nombreuses espèces. Des oiseaux rupestres remarquables viennent y nicher.
Quelques arbustes s’agrippent désespérément aux parois, faisant fi de la verticalité.
