            Un equipo de científicos de la Universidad de Ruhr, en Alemania, ha demostrado que las urracas (Pica pica) pueden reconocerse a sí mismas frente a un espejo.Sometidas al test de la marca, que consiste en marcar el cuerpo de un animal con un punto de color que el animal no puede ver salvo que se vea a sí mismo en un espejo, las urracas demostraron que comprendían que la imagen que reflejaban en el cristal era de ellas mismas.
Hasta ahora, esta prueba sólo la habían superado algunos primates y, más recientemente, los delfines de hocico de botella (tursiops truncatus) y los elefantes asiáticos.
