A small chick of little grebes (1) - a photo on Flickriver

            I saw a small chick on the back of its parent, a little grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis), for the first time on June 25.  Another chick, which hatched  much, much earlier (the first series egg) was on the right.  The small chick stayed on the back for most of the time. Later it entered into the water for 10 seconds, and returned to the preferred position to start sleeping.  I wondered whether the chick could survive. In Nagoya, Japan.
