Although the dignitaries of the community and the poor children are gathered in one room, there are no points of contact between the two groups or social classes (as in real life). Even the clergyman in the middle, who has placed his hand on the head of a girl in blessing, cannot hide this fact. The crucifix on the wall, however, makes it clear that a godly work is being performed here.
