Scene from the 1983 film,
Scene from the 1983 film, "Local Hero." "Mac" and "Oldsen" are apparently driving to "Furness" when they hit a rabbit in their car and try to nurse it back to health. Loch Tarff, half way between Fort Augustus and Whitebridge, Inverness-shire.

Commentary.

In a Spring scene that has seen heather control-burned
and is still awaiting the proliferation of new green shoots,
bursting to bloom to transform the colour scheme,
this view is north-west from just south of the Suidhe Viewpoint.

Far left is the snow-dappled slopes of part of the Nevis Range.
Central background is one of many early windfarms,
the Millennium Windfarm, above the Great Glen and Fort Augustus.

In the film, “Local Hero,” “Mac” and “Oldsen” are purportedly driving to “Ferness,” on the West Coast of Scotland
to report on its “Oil Terminal” potential.
Suddenly, it sounds like they hit something, on the foggy road.
Finding a dazed rabbit causes them a degree of angst.
After nursing and feeding it back to health and taking a rest to
allow the fog to clear, and recover from tiredness, they continue on their journey.

Loch Tarff and the “knobbly” hill appear
in the misty background of the scene.
Interestingly, Loch Tarff, although
nearly 30 miles from Inverness,
is one of several “Loch/Reservoirs”
that serve the water requirements
of the Highland capital and the
population fringing the Moray Firth.
