The silence was deafening. Beach, jetty, boat, Quicksilver water, hills, forest and me. Loch Arkaig at sunrise, nearing perfection. Lochaber, Inverness-shire, Scotland.

            Poem.

Off the beaten track.
Loch Arkaig is the epitome of peacefulness.
A primitive wooden pier seemingly floats on a glassy, mirrored loch.

The moored boat catches the eye but the blissful tranquillity, frozen in time by the shutter’s click, is captured in perpetuity.
Senses are calmed and soothed.

No spell is broken by the sporadic chirping of woodland birds
or the echoing, isolated, distinctive call of a cuckoo.
They merely enhance the mercurial minutes 
when Earth and Heaven touch.
