            Commentary.

The western end of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula bears the remnants of a collapsed volcanic crater, three miles across.
Ben Hiant, on the right, is yet more debris, of the same volcano that may have exceeded 20,000 feet, 60 million years ago.
The rippled surface shows much evidence of previous lave flows, intrusions and dykes.
Perhaps the presence of scattered minerals and nutrients
explains the exceptional greenness of this landscape.
Camus nan Geall is the beautiful bay and beach tucked below the surrounding hills.
The northern tip of Mull is top left, and vague on the horizon, are the low, flat islands of Coll and Tiree.
Ardnamurchan is an amazing place.
Ultra-remote and ultra-superb, again and again and again.
