South Shore of Loch Carron. - a photo on Flickriver

            Commentary.

Spruce and Birch,
Bramble and violet Rosebay Willow-herb
form a foreground to the
south shore of Loch Carron.
Road and rail meander their precarious paths
along this steep, wooded landscape linking
Strathcarron to Plockton, locally,
and Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh,
on a regional scale.
In recent years several landslips have closed the road.
Even the disused Strome Ferry had to be 
temporarily re-instated to avoid locals
having to make a huge 120-mile detour.
When operational, this railway has superb scenery, only matched by the Fort William to Mallaig, “Harry Potter” line.
Views of the Torridon, Applecross and Cuillin Ranges are sublime.
Sea-lochs, beaches, idyllic villages, forests,
glens, headlands and enchanting islands
make for a colourful canvas, so rich in beauty,
that seeing is believing.
