Fallen Erratic Boulders, Colonised by a Mini-Ecosystem, in Glen Nevis.

            Poem.

Ice-riven boulders flung down from 
frozen Ben Nevis boulder-fields nearly
four and a half thousand feet above.
Weathered and rounded by  wind, rain, mineralisation for countless ages.
Colonised ferns, Birch, mosses, algae, invertebrates, insects and bird-life.
Westward gap in the canopy gives a glimpse of
a south-westerly bluff to the great “Ben,” Càrn Dearg (3,346 feet).
Tumultuous, plunging torrent, Allt Coire Eòghainn,
gushes down from the corrie, Coire Eòghainn,
into the “Waters of Nevis.”
Sights in the precarious but awesome Nevis Gorge,
culminating in the graceful and magnificent
 “Mare’s-Tail,” Steall Falls.
