From My Hospital Years

My wish is for everyone to stay safe and to stay well. I set up this still life because those who work in hospitals have been more on my mind and heart with the virus hurting so many people and families. I had a wonderful number of years as an employee of a hospital. I was Secretary for the Director of Nurses, worked on the floor, and also worked in surgery, delivery, and central sterile. The items in photo are one of my sets of scrubs, my stethoscope, watch, and nurses reference book. The print is by Norman Rockwell “The Doctor and Doll”. The print evokes the feeling I witnessed and felt towards our patients. I have love, respect, and gratitude for those who work in the medical field.

In case if someone is wondering, the reason I was able to keep one of my scrubs is the hospital decided to go with all new grey colored scrubs for Medical Staff and Surgery Department Staff. We were offered to choose 1 old scrub set to keep, and all others were donated to charity. We had our own surgery lockers and I chose one of my green ones, which is what doctors and nurses currently were wearing. We had quite a few scrubs left over from our old hospital years. The green ones were bought when we opened our new hospital. Lots of fond memories.
