Wicked wings & talons - a photo on Flickriver

            An adult bald eagle ( Haliaeetus leucocephalus) taking off from a tree near Weir’s Beach, Metchosin, Vancouver Island, BC. 

I spotted this eagle from Weir’s Beach and was able to get closer by walking over to the rocky side at low tide. I observed this eagle perched high above in a tree on a cliff and was able to grab this shot hand held with my trusted Nikkor 200-500 mm lens.
