D345 Hellifield Green 1Z78 170623 CGee 15H

            Things don't seem the same, the past is so plain.  This future is our future, this time's not a game.

Sometimes things work out for the best: I was originally planning to phot 1Z78 coming through Settle station, but an axle counter failure on the Down between Settle Junction and Horton, together with loss of detection on the ground frame at Arcow, meant 2H92 heading north was late.

That meant lots of passengers on the platform at Settle, waiting for 2H92 which was yet to enter section on the Down and more passengers waiting on the other platform for 2H93 which was examining the line from the Up.   So I headed to Settle Junction and bagged 1Z78 there instead.

The failure also meant 1Z78 was on block 2H93, giving me ample time to leap frog the train to Hellifield Green where the sun was out.    

"Better still", six cows were reported on the line at Pimlico in Clitheroe, meaning 1Z78 was stopped by Hellifield South Junction to be cautioned.   This gave me ample time to gather breath and wait in the sunshine for it to pass.    

D345 passes Hellifield Green with 1Z78 Northern Belle, 15.15 Carlisle to Leeds. it's third time on this working in lieu of steam.

With hindsight, it was then over an hour late through Clitheroe, I could have chased it to Wilpshire Bank, but happy with this and with 56049 108 late from Carlisle Yard with 6Z56, I headed for home.
