               The Power of the Duratón River

The flow of the Duratón River has carved deep gorges into this park, a spectacular refuge today for numerous forest birds of prey.

Located northeast of Segovia, it is notable for its great archaeological and historical wealth, along with its natural beauty. After passing through Sepúlveda, the waters of the Duratón River stagnate in a canyon with a drop of over 100 meters. This impressive spectacle is followed by the one carved out by the Duratón River, which, with the force of its waters, has carved deep gorges into the limestone soil, where a large number of birds of prey (primarily the griffon vulture) nest. The park is divided between the municipalities of Sepúlveda, Sebúlcor, and Carrascal del Río. Two basic trails are available: from above, bordering the chasm, and from below, following the riverbank.
