Monument and fountain to Paquirri, Bullring, Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz, Andalucia, Spain

After the tragedy that occurred in September 1984 in Pozoblanco, it is common knowledge that the matador Francisco Rivera "Paquirri" died that day, at the request of the Cádiz Provincial Council, a monument to this bullfighter was
created and a bullfight was organized in the Port of Santamaría on September 27, 1985.

With the profits, the work was commissioned to the sculptor from Cádiz, based in Venezuela, Manuel de la Fuente. It is a bronze statue, in which the bullfighter is seen making a change to porta-gayola (the bullfighter kneeling to receive the bull) and the monument is set in a fountain and it was inaugurated in September 1991.

The Real Plaza de Toros de El Puerto de Santa María is a bullring in El Puerto de Santa María, Spain.

Dating from the 19th century, it has an eclectic architectural style and was completed in 1880. It is the work of Manuel Portillo de Avila y Herrera. The arena is 99 metres in diameter and the central ruedo measures 60 m. It is estimated to hold 12,186 spectators, making it one of the largest rings in Spain behind Madrid's Las Ventas and the ring in Valencia.
