" Lords of the Dance " - a photo on Flickriver

These old Scots Pines and European Larch trees are growing on Camaderry mountain [ 700m high ], in Glendalough { "The Valley of the two lakes " } Co. Wicklow. They are approaching 200years of age as they were planted specifically for pit props for the lead mines here. Fortunately they were never used as the mines closed in 1955. They are in a very prominent position and can be seen above the upper lake from 4 miles away as you approach the valley. I was up here putting out signals for the local orienteering It was hard work as we covered 35 km in 2 days. Im better now apart from my head but they say that in my case thats probably normal and all the best people are slightly mad anyway!
