" Loch Bray, Co.Wicklow, Ireland. - a photo on Flickriver

" When Ive done my work of day and I row my boat away,
Down the waters of Loch Bray as the evening lights declining
And I look upon Cipiur where the after glow is clear,
And I dream of two bright eyes and I row my boat away

She is my beautius Ni an Rhue, she is my joy my treasure too,
And although she is untrue still I cannot live without her,
For my heart is cold and low, since the day she bid me go,
And I sing aree a rue, and I row my boat away.

The two Loch Brays, upper and lower are Corrie lakes formed during the last ice age, 10000 years ago and are both fed from underground springs. They are situated between Sallygap and the village of Glencree, and at the foot of Kippure mountain. They lie at 378 and 448m and are easily accessible
from the Old Military Road.
Eagles Crag rises 100m up between the two lakes and the photo was from there. Its named after the White Tailed Eagles who nested here up to the early 1900s but were hunted to extinction possibly by the "landed gentry" who lived in the great house in the pic. As my Dad said " Shure didn't we always shoot the wrong people here in Ireland ".
If your in the area you should visit this spot and if your not, come anyway, as its truly magnificent.
