Mapleridge 11 th hole..... - a photo on Flickriver

            Recently I told a Brit friend that our 'greenery' was looking dry and more or less dead already..... well, I lied.  Oh, not on purpose... but, I should have been a bit more generous with my description.
The golf courses... still green ...  and now the trees, especially the Poplars and these Green Ash are an amazing bright gold against the brilliant blue sky. 
Can't complain about that!!

Our lawn is also still very green because we watered right up until last week.  The neighbourhood ...  not so much.  They gave up and most lawns are reeeellly dry and quite pale and crispy looking.  We've had no moisture in rain form for weeks....

I've been cutting back most of the perennials... and, some of the dead annuals have been pulled out by the roots.  Still have petunias blooming away in the brightest of pinks... definitely  not wanting to give up just yet.  I refuse to pluck them as long as there are blooms.  But, some snow is expected ...perhaps.... tomorrow or Sunday...so it could be the end of them.... we'll see. 

But, then, next week it soars again....back to balmy digits in the +20s.... so .. let's just enjoy it.
