ANCHOR ME TO THE MOON

Anchor me to the Moon and not the Earth
for I must fly as high above the world amid the stars
with absolute surety that you will never let me fall
until I reach a green and perfect land
where roots from long ago are found
set within the beauty of an exquisite landscape
where love and friendship exist and wrap their arms around
to comfort me when I am down
to lift me; free me from this cacophony of sound
of countless; endless voices bombarding in my ears
so I can no longer hear the perfect voice
that whispers gently on the soft night breeze
until I float away and land softly on my knees
and all the noises of the past that haunted me
dissolve into the quiet night and leave me be
free to enjoy the sensations of the night
that carry me in dreams; that end the constant fight
and in the sunshine of the morning I can still see the Moon
opaque and pure in white set against a bright blue sky
I blink away the tears that once refused to fall
and sighing deeply; then breathing in it all
this perfect moment echoed through the ages
repeated until at last it finds it's place
and I am where I am supposed to be
lit from within as the shadows of my face
disappear behind me as I face into the light
they may follow me, but they keep out of sight
and this day is mine to do with as I will
through the intricate patterns of this world
I am simplicity and still
tranquil opalescent moods descend upon me
lift me weightless from the floor
as I fly high up to where the Moon is smiling
happily to greet me and cries for me no more.
