            In the place where another time was a Romanic basilica, a large fortified church was built in 1493 in honor of King I of Hungary. The massive church, built in Gothic style quarry, is a room type, reinforced with 22 blocks. The defense tower has a massive look and has levels of firing holes. It was built at a distance of about 10 meters from the sacristy. Its transformation into the belfry was made with the construction of the clock tower in Sighisoara in 1677. On the upper floor window there is a figure called Bogdan, which accompanies the beatings of the clock.
The Fortified Evangelical Church of Saschiz is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
