Flare Fire - a photo on Flickriver

Flare Fire

            German C-160 Transall 50+83 fires flares over the coast of Schleswig Holstein heading out on the North Sea.

This aircraft of the Lufttransportgeschwader 63 demonstrates the ability to defend itself against heat seeking threats.

The german Transall can fire flares from three different positions. - From the side of the main gear housings, from underwing pods and from pods on top of the fuselage behind the cockpit section.

The demonstration was a stunning opportunity to take some nice photographs.
