            Day 1 of our three weeks in Scotland, Crawford Priory

Originally built in 1758 as Crawford Lodge, which was extended early 19th Century, by a sister of the 22nd Earl, Lady Mary Lindsay Crawford, this was in gothic style adding butresses , turrets and pinnacles, giving a priory look, although there is no religious history, in 1871 in 1871 it was further developed and a chapel built at the east front, later huge debts forced the house to be sold and it was passed to politician Thomas Cochrane, son of the 6th Earl of Glasgow, further remodelling took place in the 1920's , but then after death in 1968, it was never used as a house again and it stands today  in a very sorry state of decay
