Gatehouse at stokesay castle, taken from the top of the tower

            Stokesay castle was built late 13th century by Laurence of Ludlow as a fortified manor house, 
it was restored back in the 1800's 
it is now in the care of English Heritage who restored it again in the late 1980's 
today it stands as a rare surviving example of a medieval building
