Diana e le sue ninfe - a photo on Flickriver

            Particolare della grande vasca di Diana e Atteone alimentata dalla grande cascata inaugurata il 17 maggio 1762. Diana, circondata dalle sue ninfe, è sorpresa mentre fa il bagno nel bosco di Megara dal cacciatore Atteone, figlio di Aristeo. Offesa, la dea lo trasforma in cervo così da farlo assalire e divorare dai suoi stessi cani. Le figure sono ricche di espressività, quasi naturali nella spontaneità degli atteggiamenti e nelle proporzioni. Esse furono scolpite da vari artisti: i gruppi furono modellati da Tommaso Solari, i bozzetti in cera dei gruppi di Diana e Atteone furono opera di Paolo Persico, mentre Angelo Brunelli scolpì le ninfe e Pietro Solari i cani.
