Crusing the fjords

            This is the small city of Geiranger at the head of Geirangerfjorden in Norway. It's hard to believe how deep the water can be here and getting around on land is hard with the steep slopes of the mountains. It's interesting how dangerous living here can be. With the constant erosion of the mountains, a landslide could cause a tsunami which could cause great damage to life and property. Other than that, it's picture perfect! And this photo was taken at one of the turnouts as we made our way up the mountain.

The fjords were carved out by glaciers starting some 2.5 million years ago, leaving the land as it is today with deep valleys filled with seawater and high sharply sloping mountains.
