...das könnte eine Lösung für das angekündigte heiße Wochenende sein - die Alplochschlucht der Dornbirner Ach im Bregenzerwaldgebirge in Vorarberg. Für mich gerade zu weit weg, aber wer in der Nähe ist: ein Gang durch die Schlucht lohnt sich!

Die knapp 30 Kilometer lange Dornbirner Ach ist ein wichtiger Abfluss für die kleinen Bäche im Bregenzerwaldgebirge in Vorarberg. Südöstlich von Dornbirn hat sich der Fluss dabei in Form der beiden tiefen und engen Schluchten des Rappenlochs und des Alplochs in die hier teils senkrecht stehenden Kalksteinschichten des Gebirges eingeschnitten. Die durchströmenden Wassermassen haben dabei insbesondere im Alploch in Form von Strudellöchern ihre Spuren hinterlassen. Die etwa 700 Meter lange Alplochschlucht wurde 1902 durch einen schmalen Weg erschlossen. Dabei verläuft der Steg teils frei über dem Wasser der Dornbirner Ach. Durch den Felsen linkerhand verläuft zu dem ein Wassertunnel, welches das Kraftwerk Ebensand mit Wasser zur Stromerzeugung versorgt.
