Monarch on a canna lily DSC_6674 - a photo on Flickriver

            Yesterday, this beautiful female monarch was showing off her gorgeous wings as she sunned herself.  

There are red, yellow and orange canna lilies growing in the bog.  Butterflies will often use the canna blooms to rest and soak up some rays.  The yellow cannas have been blooming for a few days.  However, this morning they are starting to fade.  The red ones are about to burst and the orange ones shouldn't be far behind.  

There are some blue Irises in the bog as well and two of them are blooming with others about to pop.  This is certainly a gorgeous time of year in Florida, many of the plants were invigorated by the little cold snap we had in January.
