GVA 142 stationsplein Arnhem - a photo on Flickriver

            Het vorige stationsplein van Arnhem met toen nog een gemeentelijke trolleybus GVA 142 op 21 augustus 1986. op de achtergrond het oude stations gebouw een ontwerp van ir. H.J.G. Schelling dat op 8 mei 1954 werd geopend. Het voorgaande gebouw was verwoest in september 1944 tijdens de slag om Arnhem. Het uit 1954 stammende gebouw van Schelling werd al langer als weinig functioneel beschouwd en eind 2007 afgebroken en vervangen door een groots project met de de futuristische naam OV-Terminal van UNStudio, Ben van Berkel. De vroegere stadstram van Arnhem heeft de tweede Wereld Oorlog en de slachting van het voorgaande station niet overleeft. De daarvoor in de plaats gekomen en modern geachte trolleybus is als enige stadsbedrijf nog steeds bestaand. Al wisselt de naam van de concessie houder bijna gelijk en in een gelijkwaardig tempo met de vervanging van de bussen. Maar ze rijd nog steeds de trolleybus en wordt aangevuld met duo bussen die draadloze delen van het net op batterijen kunnen rijden.

The last but one station building in Arnhem and a municipal trolley GVA 142 on 21 August 1986. in the background the old station building designed by ir. HJG Schelling which opened on May 8, 1954. The previous building was destroyed in September 1944 during the Battle of Arnhem. The building dating from 1954 Schelling has long been regarded as little functional end demolished in 2007 and replaced by a grand project with the futuristic name Public Transport Terminal of UNStudio Ben van Berkel. The former city of Arnhem tram has not survived the second World War. It was replaced by a new modern trolleybus and today the only Dutch trolley system still running.
