An unknown history - a photo on Flickriver

An unknown history

            Grasmere, Lake District

I’ve taken a few shots of these cottages over the years when in Grasmere… mostly with tourists, walkers and cars in the way of a clear view. Just managed to grab this one with a passing burst of light traversing the front of the cottages… and without a person or car in sight – result!

However, while trying to google some background information for this blurb… can’t find anything about them. The closest I’ve got is a mistitled stock photo saying it’s called ‘The Lancrigg Hotel’, which it isn’t! Anyone got any insight I’d be most grateful.
