capped column in stereo - a photo on Flickriver

            Taken with home-made snowflake cam in transmitted, crossed polarized light. Focus stacked in PS for depth of field.  
Use cross-eye method for 3D effect.
A very interesting thing about these guys is the circular and oval outlines that can be seen in their caps.  I see it in almost all the ones I have captured.  
Snowflakes are a hexagonal crustal, and while it can manifest itself in many variations, circular aint one of them.
