Nice Place For A Stroll! - a photo on Flickriver

            Armstrong Saddle, Mid-Ruahine Range. If you look closely, you can follow the track which is marked with the iron standards. Snow and ice melting away by this stage.

Armstrong Saddle was named after Hamish Armstrong, a pilot who was caught in thick fog and crashed his plane here in 1935. It appears he survived the crash but despite an intensive search, was never found.  It is accessed from Sunrise Hut.
