66744 + 60163 - Abbots Ripton - 14/04/18.

            GB Railfreight (GBRF) 66744 'Crossrail' is seen dragging failed LNER Pepercorn A1 60163 'Tornado' past Abbots Ripton (Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire). Tornado was working 'The Ebor Flyer' 1Z63 0807 London Kings Cross to York. 
It ran successfully until reaching just south of Sandy where it 'hit debris on the track', requiring a slow 20mph drag to Peterborough where 60163 was detached and taken to the Nene Valley Railway for inspection. Not a good day for Tornado nor the disappointed passengers on board! To rub salt in the wound for us waiting at Abbots Ripton, after waiting over 2 hours, we were bowled by 91109! The railtour carried on north diesel hauled running around 200 minutes late. Photographed running 165 minutes late.
