Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Quorn, South Australia

            NEW ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH AT QUORN.
The Roman Catholic Church at Quorn, the building of which was commenced in March last, is now rapidly approaching completion. In addition to the other magnificent buildings that are springing up in this flourishing township the one under review must take a foremost place among the ornamental edifices of which Quorn can proudly boast. 

This latest addition to Gothic architecture standing upon the somewhat unhospitable plain lying to the west of the township and overlooks delightful landscapes and forest scenery.

The dimensions of the building are 42ft by 22ft, and the main wall shows a height of 19ft, while the distance from the floor to the ceiling, which is a coved one is 27ft 6in. 
The stone used in the construction has been procured from the Government Quarry. 
In the porch is a stained glass window of a very good design. It contributes to the beauty of the structure in no small degree.

Without doubt the manner in which the church has been built reflects great credit on Mr T Burgoyne, who designed it. The contractor, Mr Beadnall, also deserves a word of praise. [Ref: Port Augusta Dispatch and Flinders’ Advertiser 4-7-1883]

*The church was dedicated 5 July 1883. The church wall bears a plaque placed to commemorate the dedication centenary, 28 August 1983.

*In December 1980 a statue of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception was placed in the niche above the porch.
